The Sulzberger Story

In 1855 the Sulzberger family immigrated from their home town, Grossbottwar in Wurttemberg, Germany. On the 29th of June of that same year they arrived in Launceston, Tasmania aboard the Montmorency. To celebrate this event a Sulzberger reunion was held on the weekend of the 25th and 26th June 2005 in Launceston.

This website is a record of the celebration and the attempts to gether together the historical record of our arrival in the Southern hemisphere.

    Hello Paul,
As you are most like aware I’m Terese Binns from Tasmania, descendant from Mary Fanny b. 1857 Hythe, Bishopsbourne, Tasmania. Married William Hill at St Paul’s Church, Launceston on 13 May 1879 and lived at Windermere, Tasmania. They had eight children. I have heard from Werner Sulzberger, Germany, who has informed me of a Sulzberger Reunion in New Zealand in November 2017. Would you please send me details?

    1. Hi Terese. I’m not aware of a Sulzberger reunion this year. Of course, I’ll be most interested to hear of any news that comes your way. I remember meeting Werner some years ago – he has some connections with the Sulzbergers in Taranaki if I remember correctly. I’ll certainly let you know if I learn anything. Cheers, Paul
